Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Medicine Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our emergency department.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated diseases, illnesses, and conditions within the scope of practice.
- Order and interpret diagnostic investigations, and develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribe medications and provide first-line care in emergencies, while also communicating with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, and prognoses.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess and diagnose patient status, and accept referrals or make referrals as needed.
- Apply knowledge of pharmacology and evidence-based practice in selecting, prescribing, administering, and monitoring the effects of medications.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Eligibility to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) through the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
- Ability to perform the full scope of Nurse Practitioner duties and responsibilities.

Salary and Location
The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part-time roles. The position is located at 4500 Oak St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3N1.
