Permanent Licensed Maintenance Plumber

The Near North District School Board is seeking a skilled Plumber Maintenance Specialist to join our team.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Plumber Maintenance Specialist to perform a variety of tasks related to plumbing and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, replacing, updating, and maintaining all NNDSB plumbing and related components, including fixtures, piping, and connections for washrooms, classrooms, kitchens, special function rooms, septic and waste systems, municipal and well water supply systems and components, storm water and drainage systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, replace, update, and maintain components of hydronic heating systems, including valves, switches, pumps, piping, and related components, wiring of pumps/switchers from disconnects.
- Work with and assist other Maintenance Staff and Contractors as directed by the Supervisor.
- Act as an NNDSB contact for external Contractors and review work of Contractors when directed by the Supervisor.
- Responsible for cost estimate, inventory, and ordering of parts and equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
- Maintain equipment, tools, vehicle, and workplace in a safe and clean operating condition.
- Respond to emergency situations outside regular working hours.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude on the job.
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications as well as perform cost estimations.
- Working knowledge of general construction and maintenance processes.
- Highly motivated with proven experience working independently and as a member in a team environment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- General knowledge of basic computer applications.
- Ability to work from plans, drawings, and through verbal instruction.
- Ability and willingness to perform the physical demands of the job (i.e., climbing and working at various heights, lifting heavy loads, working in temperature extremes, etc.).
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Current Ontario Plumbers License.
- Valid Class G Driver's License with access to own reliable vehicle.
- Clear, Current Driver's Abstract.
- WHIMIS certification.
- Knowledge of essential building codes, governing provincial regulations, and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Current G2 Gas Fitter Certificate considered an asset.
- OWWA Cross Connection Control Specialist Certification considered an asset.
- Working from Heights Certificate considered an asset.
The Near North District School Board offers a competitive salary range of $30.26 to $31.69 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package.
