Job Summary:
A seasoned accounting professional is sought to fill the role of Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting at Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this individual will be responsible for managing corporate accounting and reporting processes, as well as assisting with management reporting and related tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably in a public company or public practice environment, with a minimum of 5+ years of post-designation experience. They should possess excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the corporate close and consolidations processes, preparing and/or reviewing corporate accounting journal entries.
  • Lead equity programs accounting and reporting.
  • Drive special projects as assigned.
  • Lead legal entity accounting, including intercompany transactions.
  • Ensure financial management policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • Develop policy and procedure-related documentation under GAAP, providing guidance and training to stakeholders.
  • Independently research and articulate GAAP guidance for specific business cases, such as drafting accounting memos or position papers.
  • Assist in the implementation of any new financial systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Candidate must hold Canadian CPA, CA designation (US CPA will be considered) with minimum 5+ years of post-designation accounting experience.
  2. Proven hands-on experience in Corporate Controllership of a public company or Public Practice Accounting firms.
  3. Experience analyzing and incorporating GAAP guidance in complex business transactions.
  4. Multi-entity consolidation experience; multi-currency experience.
  5. Ability to work in a highly dynamic fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines; strong ability to manage multiple priorities, and take ownership to drive projects/issues to completion.
  6. Strong sense of ethics and a team player.
  7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills.
  9. Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  10. Experience in financial reporting systems.
