The City of North Vancouver is seeking a Network Defense Analyst to join its information technology department. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in protecting the city's systems and data from cyber threats.
Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing malicious activity, responding to incidents, and recommending corrective actions. You will also participate in security awareness training and collaborate with technical teams to assess and remediate vulnerabilities.
In addition, you will contribute to the acquisition and evaluation of security hardware and systems, develop recommendations for security practices and procedures, and provide guidance to other departments.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze malicious activity using various tools to identify potential threats.
- Respond to incidents and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Participate in security awareness training to educate staff on best practices.
- Collaborate with technical teams to assess and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to the acquisition and evaluation of security hardware and systems.
- Develop recommendations for security practices and procedures.
- Provide guidance to other departments on security-related matters.
To be considered for this role, you must have a post-secondary diploma in a relevant Information Technology discipline and at least five years of relevant experience in cyber security and/or system/network administration.
Credentials related to cyber security (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker) are highly desirable.
