Job Description

Senior Estimators Main Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing drawings and specifications to identify divisions of work
  • Engaging in project development activities, including defining scope, preconstruction planning, and developing control estimates for delivery
  • Providing preconstruction services by preparing preliminary budgets, cost plans, and identifying value engineering opportunities
  • Studying plans and specifications to clarify location and document discrepancies
  • Overseeing the preparation and execution of detailed quantity takeoff estimates, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Confirming site visits and arranging attendance
  • Working with Subcontractors to understand their requirements
  • Negotiating and awarding contracts
  • Assisting with Scheduling

The Successful Applicant

  • 8+ years of estimating experience, leading up to a Senior Estimator role
  • Experience in institutional renovation and addition projects
  • Experience bidding on projects between $1M-$30M
  • Post-secondary diploma in a construction-related discipline
  • Proven ability to prepare detailed cost estimates and preliminary budgets
  • Experience conducting comprehensive quantity takeoff estimates while identifying risks and opportunities
  • Able to be client-facing and increase project pipeline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to lead and work within a team
