Mastronardi Produce is seeking a skilled Greenhouse Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting growers through key data collection, mixing fertilizer batches, and plant registrations. This will enable you to make calculated decisions to maximize plant health and production.

Key Responsibilities:


Monitor daily electrical conductivity (EC) and PH levels in irrigation water feeding the plants.

Check Priva boxes weekly for alarms and add distilled water and wicks as necessary to properly read ambient temperature in the greenhouses.

Use a meter to check water content of growing bags to see percentage of water content, temperature, and fertilizer levels and record data in the computer database.

Daily, mix fertilizer batches and monitor tank levels using computer systems and notify growers if alterations to the mix need to be made.

Fill and monitor sulfur pots to prevent powdery mildew.

Conduct weekly collection of water samples and send to offsite laboratory for analysis, which directly impacts future fertilizer batches.

Perform weekly inventory of all minerals and liquids used in irrigation rooms.

Complete necessary steps for weekly plant registration, regarding thickness of the plant, length of leaves, growth progression from previous week to help growers determine crop tasks.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of irrigation rooms and acid tanks.

Unload bees and open hives and place in proper locations throughout both greenhouses.

Monitor and maintain pumps and filters in the greenhouse and irrigation room.

Assist with IPM duties as needed.

Perform crop work as assigned.

Requirements:


Agricultural experience in greenhouse or produce environment an asset.

Bachelor's degree an asset.

Forklift experience or ability to be trained required.

Skills and Abilities:


Self-motivated and able to maintain a high level of self-imposed discipline.

Proficient in use of English language with ability to communicate effectively and professionally, present information and direction, and field questions from managers, employees, and external contacts.

Highly proficient in computer-use skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Willingness to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of job.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information, as well as other Company data, including personnel information.

Combination of office (20%) and greenhouse (80%) environment.

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, and bending on a regular basis.

Manual dexterity to perform computer skills.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Ability to work extra hours as needed, 6 days per week in season.

Working Conditions:


Greenhouse environment where temperature may reach 70°F and background noise approaches 70 dB.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
