Family Counsellor Role at Alberta Health Services

Your Opportunity:

The Youth Addiction and Forensic Mental Health portfolio is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and experienced Family Counsellor to join Edmonton's Youth Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Treatment Program. The Recovery Treatment Program is an intensive, inpatient treatment program for youth aged 12-18 years recovering from the harmful effects of substance misuse and abuse.

  • The 8-bed program is 3 months in duration and provides individual, group, recreational, and family counseling as part of the recovery plan.

Youth also attend an onsite school and access healthy community activities with staff support. This dynamic, evolving role is a key clinical position within Edmonton's Youth Addiction Inpatient Programs.

About the Job

We are looking for an innovative and creative clinical professional who can enhance and further develop an established and reputable treatment service. As a Family Counsellor, you will be responsible for providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up to clients and their families.

You will also provide clinical-focused consultation with other programs or community resources and act as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. Collaboration with other healthcare providers and community service providers is essential to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide family counselling, program development, group facilitation, and mentoring to frontline Addiction Counselling staff in family-centered practice.
  • Collaborate with families and professionals in the community to ensure a continuum of care.
  • Develop and promote preventative health programs in the community.
Requirements
  • Completion of a master's degree in a health-related field.
  • Active or eligible registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Salary and Benefits
