Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, with potential earnings exceeding $150,000 through commission-based sales performance. This figure may vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating relationships with referral networks, identifying sales opportunities, and developing effective marketing and sales programs to drive business results. They will also serve as a customer advocate during application and processing activities, providing exceptional service and support throughout the mortgage process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with referral networks to build a pipeline of new mortgage business and increase BMO's share of the home financing market.
  • Identify sales opportunities and refer to BMO colleagues as appropriate, ensuring seamless handoffs and excellent customer experiences.
  • Develop and execute effective marketing and sales programs to drive business results, aligning with corporate policies, operating directives, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a customer advocate during application and processing activities, providing expert guidance and support to ensure timely and satisfactory completion of mortgage applications.
  • Proactively contact referral and origination sources identified through national partnerships and/or local collaborations to discuss home financing solutions and grow existing relationships.
  • Assist with implementing targeted marketing programs, promotions, and other initiatives to achieve individual sales and profitability goals.
  • Search for cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to position with branches and achieve individual sales and profitability objectives.
  • Support the delivery of targeted marketing programs, promotions, and other initiatives, working collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage lending or related field, combined with a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth understanding of the mortgage lending process and applicable regulatory requirements, including Credit Qualifiable knowledge and skills according to credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse groups and build strong relationships.
  • Expert knowledge of self-management and teamwork, personal lending, relationship sales and management, and functional knowledge of personal banking, investments, trust services, business and commercial lending, and cash management.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with ability to think creatively and propose new solutions.
  • Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience, including verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and team skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, influence skills, and in-depth understanding of consumer needs, industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
