Job Title: Electrical Safety Specialist

Job Summary:

The Electrical Safety Specialist will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and photographing products for conformity assessment with international and national regulations. The end result will be a Certificate, Test Report, and/or Technical Report for the client.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Inspect, test, and photograph products for conformity assessment with international and national regulations.
  2. Prepare reports and documentation of customer products to the appropriate standards.
  3. Support sales and marketing with expertise as required, including customer presentations.
  4. Test procedure generation.
  5. Correspond, orally, and in writing, with customers and if necessary, with Product Safety Agencies such as UL, CSA, and VDE with respect to Product Design Approaches for Safety.
  6. Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with internal and external customers in all circumstances, including providing quotes, answering questions, relaying messages, and providing information with regard to standards, test procedures, to bring product into compliance with requirements.
  7. Maintain confidentiality of customers, products tested, and appropriate internal information.
  8. Keep abreast of present and future Product Safety requirements, test procedures, instrumentation, technology, and TÜV America Engineering service capabilities by internal training sessions, external seminars, and reading of technical articles.
  9. Validation of clients' requirements (may require site visits).
  10. Provide help to customers and staff during their safety test program.
  11. Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects.
  12. Work within the controls and constraints of an ISO 17025 Quality System.
Requirements:

  • Familiar with use of MS Office suite of tools: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of product safety experience
  • Working knowledge of Word for Windows and Excel
  • Accurate, clear, and timely communication of information, upward and lateral, including verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Ability to plan and organize giving attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Reliable judgment that is consistent, adaptable to unusual situations, realistic, common-sense approach to job and problems.
  • Motivation, initiative, commitment, to self-improvement.
  • Willingness to consider others' ideas and to work with others.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel, where and when required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Good knowledge of CB and NRTL safety testing and certification requirements
  • Basic to good knowledge of standards such as IEC/UL/CSA 61010-1/62368-1, etc.
Education:

BS degree in an engineering discipline, or diploma with relevant experience.

Experience:

2 years' experience in Safety testing and certification.

2 Year's in electrical engineering compliance

This position requires the ability to perform product setup and testing activities involving lifting and manipulation of equipment up to 25kgs.
