Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional Medical Director to lead our team of Veterinary Specialists, Emergency Veterinarians, and Support Staff at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital of West Toronto. The successful candidate will oversee medical policies, team development, recruiting, business management, communication, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain medical policies to ensure patient safety and excellence in care.
- Collaborate on the hospital's strategic vision and manage scheduling to optimize clinical efficiency.
- Mentor the DVM team and participate in team engagement and retention efforts to foster a positive work environment.
- Lead the interview process for DVM candidates and ensure an exceptional candidate experience.
- Review financial performance, participate in pricing discussions, and contribute to business outreach and development to drive growth and profitability.
- Address client and referring veterinarian complaints, coach the team on superior client communication, and ensure compliance with medical records standards.
- Maintain hospital DEA license, ensure controlled drug policy compliance, and uphold Federal, Provincial, and Local regulatory standards.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have a DVM degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of clinical experience, preferably in emergency veterinary medicine or as a specialist. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care are essential for this position.
