About This Position

Century Group is seeking a highly skilled Catering Supervisor to join our team at Coast Tsawwassen Inn. As a key member of our food and beverage department, you will be responsible for overseeing the supervision of all banquet service staff and coordinating all food and beverage services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and lead the service of all catering events from start to finish, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer satisfaction.
  2. Coordinate the service of functions by delegating and supervising the work of others, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
  3. Conduct pre-function meetings to review personal hygiene and appearance standards of all staff and detail the banquet event order, ensuring a thorough understanding of event requirements.
  4. Ensure function rooms are set up in accordance with instructions on the detailed Banquet Event Order, including audio visual equipment, to create an immersive and engaging experience.
  5. Meet with the Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen, guaranteeing timely and accurate service delivery.
  6. Verify that all china, glassware, silverware, and linen items needed for the event are spotlessly clean, maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  7. Check staffing needs for upcoming events and confirm schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimal service delivery.
  8. Attend weekly BEO meetings with the Chef and Catering Manager to review banquet event orders and ensure all information is complete, asking questions to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  9. Communicate effectively with meeting planners and event coordinators to ensure all needs are met and to check for any last-minute instructions or changes.
  10. Complete all daily administrative tasks, including record-keeping and data entry, to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  11. Be responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of all equipment, including audio visual, china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props, ensuring proper storage after use and recommending maintenance and repairs as needed.
  12. Recommend proper maintenance and repair to the Maintenance manager and ensure the proper housekeeping of all function space, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  13. Ensure that food is served at the appropriate temperature and that the entrée is placed properly on the table, guaranteeing a visually appealing and delicious dining experience.
  14. For receptions, ensure sufficient food is available and any upsell opportunities are met, maximizing revenue and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience as a Banquet Server, with previous supervisory experience in a food and beverage setting preferred.
  • Serving It Right and FoodSafe certification is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, etc.).
  • Superior communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced customer-service oriented environment.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
