Compliance and Regulatory Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance and Regulatory Legal Counsel to join our team at High Tide Inc. in Calgary. As a key member of our Legal and Compliance department, you will play a critical role in ensuring our organization's compliance with regulatory requirements and providing expert advice on regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory and compliance matters, including applicable Canadian and foreign legislation.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President and Legal Counsel to identify and assess legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate risks and protect High Tide's interests.
  • Function as an expert on the legal and regulatory framework for the sale and distribution of cannabis and cannabis products in Canada and worldwide.
  • Assist in the planning, day-to-day management, and control of legal and regulatory activities dictated by Provincial and Federal authorities.
  • Lead SOX compliance initiatives for the legal department.
  • Manage and respond to Regulatory requests for information, ensuring responses comply with applicable privacy laws.
  • Conduct routine checks on compliance with various elements of the company's business.
  • Manage and supervise external legal support.
  • Update precedent contracts and contract management processes, and help to identify opportunities to streamline the Legal department.
Requirements:
  • Law Degree, Member of a Provincial Bar in good standing in Alberta.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Compliance & Regulatory.
  • Knowledge of SOX experience is an asset.
  • A self-motivated professional with Canadian law experience who can work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactively bring projects to completion.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with experience addressing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to provide clear instructions and advice, persuasively communicating risk processes and policies.
