Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Underwriting Specialist to join our growing team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company while achieving success in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

About the Role

The Digital Underwriting Specialist will be responsible for supporting strategic product development plans to achieve growth targets. You will develop guidelines, authority statements, and manage referral processes to support performance and underwriting. Additionally, you will gather market intelligence by working directly with distribution, brokers, and customers, comparing Intact's product offering to the competition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of strategic product plans to drive business growth
  • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, authority statements, and referral processes
  • Gather market intelligence through direct interaction with distribution, brokers, and customers
  • Compare Intact's product offerings to competitors and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Research technology-based solutions for pricing, underwriting, risk assessment, and loss mitigation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to explore new growth and profitability opportunities through technical research and relationship building
  • Assist in portfolio management through governance best practices, profitability analysis, and growth strategy development
  • Perform technical underwriting audits to ensure compliance and quality
  • Communicate changes related to underwriting guidelines and new products to stakeholders
  • Provide underwriting training and expertise to colleagues and distribution underwriters
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-10 years of experience in commercial or specialty lines equipment breakdown underwriting
  • Strong knowledge of P&C wordings, products, appetite, and philosophies, as well as underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures
  • Experience with large or complex placements is an asset
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including persuasion and conflict resolution
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively within national departmental teams
  • Effective analytical, negotiating, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
  • Digital and data acumen, understanding how these two areas can support and facilitate customer and underwriter experiences
  • University degree or college diploma, or equivalent education and experience
  • CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation or commitment to attain this designation is an asset
  • FCIP and/or CRM designation is an asset
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
Salary Range

The salary range for this position will be approximately $103,200.00, considering factors such as work experience, skills, anticipated contributions, internal equity, autonomy, performance, and location.
