At YMCA Calgary, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Camp Counsellor to join our team at Camp Chief Hector YMCA. As a Camp Counsellor, you will be responsible for leading groups of children and youth on outdoor adventures, providing guidance and support, and ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead groups of children and youth on outdoor adventures, including day hikes and overnight trips
  • Provide guidance and support to participants, promoting their physical and emotional well-being
  • Ensure the safety and security of participants, adhering to YMCA policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement engaging programs and activities that promote learning and personal growth
  • Collaborate with other staff members to achieve program goals and objectives
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates and feedback on participant progress

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and youth in outdoor settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
