Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations on various sections of the body, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.
Key Responsibilities- Receiving and preparing patients for testing by reviewing requisitions, correlating clinical history with examination to be performed, and explaining procedures to patients.
- Performing ultrasound procedures using ultrasound and Doppler techniques, observing patient safety practices, and labeling permanent records.
- Assisting in procedural rooms by setting up biopsy trays, assisting radiologists/cardiologists with interventional procedures, and providing support and comfort to patients.
- Monitoring patient safety during procedures, checking resultant images for technical quality and completeness, and discussing images with radiologists/cardiologists.
- Facilitating workflow by checking requisition information, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging for patient transportation.
- Performing quality control duties, monitoring equipment performance, and notifying supervisors of equipment malfunctions.
- Demonstrating procedures and equipment usage to staff, participating in orientation of new employees, and maintaining patient and hospital records.
- Participating in team/department activities, committees, and approved research projects to enhance and optimize care delivery.
- Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography.
- Certification with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sonography procedures, aseptic techniques, safe work procedures, and imaging acquisition applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively, operate related equipment, and work independently and collaboratively.
