As a talented and energetic lawyer, you'll play a key role in our global legal team, providing strategic, creative, and commercial support and advice across various investment-related projects and enterprise matters.

**Your responsibilities will include:**

  • Providing expert legal advice on investment and enterprise matters, working closely with senior investment support-focused lawyers in the Legal department and investment teams across the organization.
  • Engaging with investors, external counsel, and other internal stakeholders on complex investment strategy, institutional-level, and project-related matters.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of policies, procedures, systems, and training to ensure the effective delivery of investment and enterprise advice.
  • Collaborating with the Legal department enterprise and compliance teams and other partners across the organization in relation to a broad range of investment and enterprise matters.
  • Anticipating, identifying, and assisting in managing legal risks relating to new investment or enterprise strategies and activities, and new or changed laws or regulations that impact CPP Investments' investment and enterprise strategies.

**To succeed in this role, you'll need:**

  • A strong background in corporate and commercial law, with a minimum of 7-10 years of post-qualification experience gained at a major law firm or in-house corporate legal department.
  • Financial institution or asset management experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to work cooperatively with many different stakeholders and manage external counsel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Versatility and ability to work across a broad range of subject matter areas.
