About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing prevention programs, working with local partners to reduce substance abuse, and providing support to those struggling with addiction. This includes:
- Developing and running education, awareness, and prevention initiatives
- Collaborating with regional and local partners to reduce substance abuse and dependencies
- Organizing and implementing a range of prevention, intervention, and aftercare activities
- Providing crisis intervention, counseling services, and support groups
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A diploma of college studies in social work techniques or social service techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Knowledge of Cree culture and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee
- Fluency in English; fluency in Cree and French is an asset
