Linamar Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of highly engineered products, is seeking an experienced and skilled Machinist Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting various types of conventional or automatic machines, including lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other precision equipment.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, with the ability to work from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts. You will be accountable for working independently to interpret, plan, and produce or repair parts, as well as contributing to a team environment when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and operating machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Adjusting and setting up machining equipment and tooling for use by machine operators.
  • Monitoring speed settings and feed rates for drills, lathes, and mills, ensuring machines are operating within specified ranges and making adjustments as needed.
  • Reviewing drawings prior to jobs to understand critical dimensions and machining tolerances, identifying missing information or measurements.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent general education.
  • Enrolled in an apprenticeship and a certificate of qualification program as a general machinist.
  • Strong knowledge of computer-assisted design, manufacturing, and machining software.
  • Ability to interpret scale drawings at various points throughout machining processes.
