About the Opportunity

Vaco is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Reporting Expert to support our client in a 6-month contract opportunity. This role requires strong financial modeling skills, knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and proficiency in Excel and Access.

The ideal candidate will have a Canadian Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CA) and experience with compliance and internal controls (ICFR). They should also be proficient in external reporting, particularly in the retail field, and able to draft financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare periodic internal financial statements, accounting policies, and yearly external statements.
  • Support management team with financial statement reporting and analysis.
  • Analyze the impact of results on the organization and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Implement accounting policies related to specific areas of IFRS and research on latest policy developments.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to department staff members and project teams.
  • Research and recommend improvements in reporting structure and requirements.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and enhancements involving Finance-related systems.

Requirements:

  • Canadian Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CA) preferred.
  • Experience with compliance and internal controls (ICFR).
  • External reporting experience in the retail field, with ability to draft financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and knowledge of IFRS.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, and Oracle or other ERP systems.

Benefits:

This contract opportunity offers a competitive estimated salary range of $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience. The location is within the Greater Toronto Area, and candidates must be permitted to work in Canada to be considered.
