Position Overview:
In the Automotive Technician Trainee role, you will play a crucial role in terms of the customer experience in conducting maintenance procedures to determine vehicle repair requirements and providing accurate recommendations to our customers. You will be responsible for performing oil and filter changes, complete multi-point inspections on vehicles, diagnosing issues, and performing vehicle repairs and parts replacement as qualified.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs oil and filter changes
- Conducts multi-point inspections on vehicles and checks and marks all required items on the checklist as required and presents findings to the Service Advisor
- Diagnoses issues such as noises, leaks, etc.
- Performs vehicle repairs and parts replacement if qualified
- Inspect vehicle fluid levels, replaces or replenishes as necessary
- Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants
- Tire mounting, balancing, rotations, and repairs
- Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor
- Documents all work performed on the repair order
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by the service manager
- Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean
- Notifies the Service Advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
- Keeps the shop area neat and clean
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of Level 1 Service Automotive Apprentice training
- Familiarity working with ADP and CDK programs is considered an asset
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Efficient problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet physical demands such as heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time, and ability to use power and hand-held equipment
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving history
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and work ethic
