About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Network Specialist to join our team at Telesat. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating cloud-based and on-premise datacentre infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities
  • Cloud Infrastructure Planning: Evaluate cloud applications, designs, and best practices to ensure alignment with our business objectives.
  • Network Design and Implementation: Recommend, plan, implement, and maintain Azure networking solutions, including hybrid networking, connectivity, routing, security, and private access to Azure services.
  • Cloud Deployment and Management: Deploy networking solutions using the Azure Portal and other methods, including PowerShell, Terraform, Azure CLI, and Azure templates.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with solutions architects, application developers, cloud administrators, cybersecurity, and DevOps engineers to deliver Azure solutions.
  • Network Monitoring and Security: Monitor network performance, availability, and security, and audit existing network designs to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Cloud Security and Compliance: Manage and apply security best practices to the cloud environment, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data.
  • Network Maintenance and Support: Communicate and coordinate network maintenance, operational status, and downtime to users and management, following established change management processes and procedures.
  • Metrics and Monitoring: Develop and implement metrics and monitoring to assist with SRE (Support) and Operations functions.
Requirements
  • Network Experience: 7+ years of experience in Azure administration, hybrid connections, and network security.
  • Enterprise Networking: Experience in implementing and operating enterprise networking and datacentre environments, including switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Cloud Automation: At least 3 years of experience with the deployment, management, and automation of on-premises networking.
  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience. Experience with Kubernetes network environments is considered an asset.
  • Additional Skills: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and firewall administration. Strong understanding and hands-on experience in the administration of Linux. Experience leveraging scripts to build infrastructure (i.e., Bash, Python, Terraform). Detailed knowledge of network appliances (both hardware and virtual) including Cisco, Fortinet, and/or Palo Alto.
