Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Aide to join our team at Spring Living Retirement Communities. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our residential suites and common areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resident Support
    • Respond to resident or family member concerns and take appropriate action within decision-making authority.
    • Effectively communicate and interact with residents, family members, visitors, and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance
    • Clean resident suites upon move-out and prepare suites for new occupants.
    • Clean and disinfect all common areas, including dining rooms, bathrooms, lounges, activity areas, offices, hallways, stairways, and other areas as directed.
    • Clean and disinfect resident suites, including telephone, furniture, kitchen, and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents, mirrors, and windows.
    • Dust furniture and equipment.
    • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
    • Vacuum and clean/shampoo carpeted areas.
  • Laundry and Linen
    • Perform laundry duties as required, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and delivering clean linen and clothing.
  • Utilities and Store Rooms
    • Maintain utility and store rooms in a tidy and sanitary condition.
    • Restock supplies as needed.
  • Reporting and Safety
    • Report any damaged or unusable furniture and fixtures.
    • Understand and follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to yourself, other staff members, and residents.
    • Promptly report all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
  • Qualifications and Requirements
    • Previous housekeeping experience is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Completion of secondary school education or equivalent.
    • First Aid & CPR Certificate preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Good listening skills and the ability to follow instructions.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
    • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
    • Must be in good physical and mental health.
    • Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including work performed indoors in well-lit, well-ventilated areas, exposed to heat, humidity, and noise.
    • Ability to respond to emergency situations (as per Spring Level policies and procedures).
    • Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Persons Check required.
