With a rapidly growing tech company in Mississauga, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role offers opportunities for growth and improvement within a dynamic team.

Job Overview:

This high-growth opportunity involves managing full-cycle financial accounting processes, including account reconciliations, analysis, month-end close procedures, banking activities, Canadian and U.S. Payroll processing, compliance, and tax filings. The successful candidate will have experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft D365, as well as strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing day-to-day full-cycle accounting processes, including preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining prepaid registers, and reconciling various general ledger accounts.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Maintain fixed assets register, prepare and enter journal entries into the system.
  • Prepare and post all journal entries into the system.
  • Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.
  • Bank reconciliation and banking activities.
  • Coordination of client billing, cash receipts, and collection management.
  • Coordination of vendor invoice entries and payment management.
  • Coordination of employee expense management.
  • Coordination of Canadian and U.S. Payroll processing and compliance.
  • General support and working with the accounting team.
  • Tax filings, reconciliations, and audits as they occur.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with full-cycle financial accounting and processes, including inventory management.
  • Completion of CPA designation.
  • Hands-on experience with various accounting software packages; experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft D365 an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Understanding of ASPE.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, high degree of accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency & adherence to deadlines.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and able to identify unusual entries, discrepancies, or problems, and resolve independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team, with a passion for making continuous improvements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

We offer a competitive $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth and professional development.
