Your Opportunity:

Rimbey Long Term Care is an 84-bed unit located in a rural setting where Registered Nurses work within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide Client and Family Centered Care. The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) will be required to provide leadership, including direction, supervision, mentoring, constructive feedback, and client care coordination to other professionals and unregulated staff. In this coordination role, the RN/RPN must have the ability to use critical thinking skills to plan, assess, implement, and evaluate Client Centered Care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias.

Job Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of Care planning and tracking tools, InterRai LTCF, Netcare, CCHSS, Microsoft office- Excel and word, Connect care.
  • Must have moderate computer skills, with a working knowledge of office equipment.
  • Great interpersonal communication skills, experience in conflict management and Nonviolent crisis intervention, ability to multitask and be a critical thinker in stressful and challenging situations.
  • Dementia care and management of adverse behaviors.
  • Be comfortable in a team working environment as well as ability to work independently with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An understanding of wound care process, behavioral management, and conflict resolution, as well as training in the Continuing care Facility Living Nurse connect care course would be an asset.
