Sunflower Early Learning Society, a leading Reggio-inspired early learning centre in North Vancouver, BC, is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead its operations.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned professional with strong operational management skills to oversee the day-to-day administration and management of our school. As the primary point of contact for families and prospective families, you will collaborate with our Lead Teachers to ensure the smooth operation of our programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster effective teamwork between the Board, Executive Director, and teaching and administrative staff
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the organization with external stakeholders
  • Represent the organization at community activities to enhance its profile

Operational Planning and Management:

  • Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations and needs of its families, staff, the Board, and the community
  • Draft policies for approval by the Board and prepare procedures to implement organizational policies; review and update existing policies annually and recommend changes to the Board as necessary
  • Maintain children and staff files securely and ensure confidentiality

Program Planning and Management:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's programmes and services
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of programmes and services to maintain or improve quality
  • Keep materials, website, and communications up-to-date
  • Oversee special projects, including planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation

Human Resources Planning and Management:

  • Implement human resources policies, procedures, and practices, including job descriptions and postings for all staff
  • Recruit, interview, and select staff with the right credentials and abilities to further the organization's mission
  • Provide orientation and training for staff, and coach and mentor as needed

Financial Planning and Management:

  • Collaborate with the bookkeeper to ensure sound financial procedures are followed
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities, taxation, CPP, EI, health coverage, and Child Care BC Act

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
