About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Neighbourly Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with prescription processing, including data entry, labeling, and packaging under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
  • Count, measure, and package prescription medications accurately and safely, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels, receive and stock incoming shipments of medications and supplies, and assist with inventory audits as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area, including medication shelves, dispensing counters, and workstations.
  • Perform clerical tasks, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents, and assist with processing insurance claims and coordinating prescription transfers as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pharmacy assistant program or relevant healthcare certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a retail or healthcare setting is advantageous, but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks, such as medication counting and labeling.
  • Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and pharmacy software systems; training will be provided.

Working Conditions

  • This is a part-time position, with standard work hours typically ranging from 16 to 32 hours per week.
  • The position may require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting/moving of moderate-weight boxes or containers.
  • Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational hours of the pharmacy.
