Cardiology Technologist

Job Summary:

Fraser Health Authority seeks an experienced Cardiology Technologist to join their team at Langley Memorial Hospital in Langley, BC. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, holter and Ambulatory Blood Pressure (ABP) monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cardiology technology and be able to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, holter and/or event monitor testing and Ambulatory Blood Pressure (ABP) testing.
2. Explain procedures and answer patient questions in preparation for testing.
3. Scan and analyze ECG, stress and holter monitor test strips; select and assess portions of test strips and summarize for interpretation by medical staff.
4. Under supervision, may assist with Pacemaker interrogation, monitoring and documentation.
5. Enter patient test information as per department protocols, into Meditech to provide Electronic Health Records database for client/patient files.
6. Maintain appropriate files and reports according to established department procedures/policies.
7. Demonstrate ECG testing procedures and operation of related equipment to students and new staff.
8. Provide orientation and training to ECG staff and other hospital staff as directed.
9. Maintain equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items as required; complete requisitions for repair using established procedures.
10. Distribute patient reports to appropriate wards and/or departments.
11. Provide input and assist with the development, implementation and update of department policies and procedures.
12. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level plus two (2) years recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certified.
