Header Machine Operator

Position Summary
The Header Machine Operator plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring that heading machines are optimally set up for efficient production runs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the heading machine for operation, which includes cleaning, loading and unloading wire spools, and changing draw dies.
- Draw wire, set up punches, and cut pins as needed.
- Change dies and sharpen or replace knives and quills.
- Adjust the timing of blows and transfers to ensure precision.
- Conduct tests on machine operations during setup.
- Maintain machines by filling them with oil and grease.
- Troubleshoot issues during production runs, replacing pins, springs, and worn tools as necessary.
- Inspect products to ensure quality standards are met, measuring and recording dimensions accurately.
- Complete necessary inspection reports.
- Manage the transfer of parts to bins or replace bins on conveyor machines.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Support and comply with internal health and safety programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school diploma or higher.
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Possession of a certified forklift license is an advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good mathematical skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Familiarity with tool and die making, as well as the cold-heading process.
- Ability to read blueprints is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of machine tools such as Drill Press and Milling Machine.
- Understanding of SPC and ISO/QS 9000 standards is a plus.
