We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Assistant to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As an Operating Room Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment, including the setup and organization of equipment and supplies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to facilitate the smooth execution of surgical procedures.
- Provide support to surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, as required.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest perioperative practices and technologies.
- Minimum three years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an operating room or procedural room environment.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative principles, aseptic techniques, and operating room equipment and supplies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to maintain concentration and prioritize tasks in a demanding and stressful environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Completion of a recognized comprehensive Health Care Aide course.
- Enrollment in and successful completion of the Operating Room Assistant Course (approximately 12 weeks).
- Proficient command of the English language (both oral and written).
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The ability to maintain concentration and prioritize tasks in a demanding and stressful environment is essential.
