As a key member of our Component Engineering organization, you will be responsible for sustaining component engineering governance, processes, tools, and activities at the Global Technical Service Center (GTSC) level.
Key Responsibilities- Component Research and Development: Conduct research on Electrical/Electronic/Electromechanical (EEE) components, mechanical components, and computer & networking equipment to ensure they meet technical requirements and minimize component costs.
- Component Selection and Analysis: Develop and implement component selection processes to ensure the right components are chosen for product and customer-specific applications.
- Obsolescence Management: Identify and address obsolescence issues related to component obsolescence management, including the identification and implementation of substitute Form/Fit/Function (FFF) components.
- Component Database Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date component databases, including verification of new component data entry.
- Document and Datasheet Preparation: Generate and oversee document and datasheet preparation, including non-standard part approvals.
- Component Cost Reduction Initiatives: Support component cost reduction initiatives through the consolidation of duplicate parts and participation in periodic inventory reviews.
- Inventory Reduction Support: Provide inventory reduction support through the consolidation of duplicate parts and participation in periodic inventory reviews.
- Preliminary and Production BOM Reviews: Participate in preliminary and production Bill of Materials (BOM) reviews to ensure accurate component selection.
- Component Failure Investigations: Support component failure investigations with Manufacturers and Design Engineering.
- Component-Related Questions: Address and resolve component-related questions from Contract Manufacturers.
- Quality Alerts: Provide technical input for the support of internal Quality Alerts related to component issues.
- Student Intern Training and Mentoring: Train and mentor student interns on component engineering processes and principles.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
- Minimum 5-7 Years' Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a High Reliability environment as a Component Engineer or Electronic Hardware Designer is mandatory.
- Technical Competence: Technical competence in Electrical/Electronic/Electromechanical (EEE) parts is a must.
- Form/Fit/Function (FFF) Equivalence: A clear understanding of FFF equivalence as it relates to multiple-source component integrity vs. application acceptability is required.
- RoHS and REACh Knowledge: Current knowledge of RoHS, REACh, and awareness of other international environmental standards and regulations related to electronic components and assemblies is a must.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
- Defending Technical Arguments: Confident in defending technical arguments.
- Microsoft Office Excel: Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel is a minimum.
- Computer and Networking Equipment Familiarity: Familiarity with computer and networking equipment is a plus to support obsolescence management of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components.
- 3rd Party Component Databases: Experience with 3rd party component databases, such as IHS.
- SAP Experience: SAP experience.
- PLM Systems: Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems like Windchill.
