About the Role

This senior management position will be part of our Capital One Compliance Team, providing expert advice to our business on privacy issues and legal requirements. As Senior Manager, Privacy Office (Canada), you will lead the development and implementation of compliance-oriented processes, ensuring our technology-focused business remains dynamic and well-controlled.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the daily operation and administration of the Privacy Program, working closely with the Chief Privacy Officer;
  • Communicate key regulatory developments and changes to all relevant stakeholders, assisting with the implementation of necessary changes to maintain compliance;
  • Serve as a privacy subject matter expert, advising business unit stakeholders on federal and provincial regulatory requirements for new products, business initiatives, and processes;
  • Provide effective review and challenge to processes and results, driving customer-focused solutions;
  • Liaise with regulators, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, to respond to requests for information and notify potential breaches;
  • Participate in regulatory examinations and internal audits of the privacy program;
  • Investigate and respond to privacy requests, complaints, and inquiries according to policies, standards, procedures, and processes;
  • Develop and document oversight of activities undertaken by the Enterprise Privacy team;
  • Assist the Chief Privacy Officer in establishing written policies and procedures regarding privacy, in compliance with Canadian regulations and Enterprise policies;
  • Support the development and delivery of privacy training to business unit stakeholders;
  • Understand expectations from external entities, such as auditors and regulators, and partner with first-line leadership on ensuring compliance;
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree;
  • At least 7 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a legal role within a financial institution;
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the field of Privacy;
  • At least 7 years of experience working with Canadian banking legislation, laws, industry standards, and regulations as they apply to the financial services sector;
  • Proven record of innovation and process improvements;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with an ability to influence others.
