The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in helping us achieve our vision by ensuring maximum facility uptime and daily production while maintaining all equipment properly through application of best maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, develop, and provide direct leadership to maintenance staff
  • Supervise repairs carried out by maintenance staff and/or contractors
  • Evaluate incoming work notifications and generate prioritized work orders as needed
  • Assist with capital project implementation
  • Ensure all maintenance work is captured on work orders and entered into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Review completed work orders for accuracy and ensure scheduled work is completed within allocated timeframes
  • Liaise with Engineering and Operations on matters related to equipment maintenance and availability
  • Provide guidance to Planner/Scheduler when approving, prioritizing, and estimating work, as well as technical assistance when developing job plans
  • Participate in production meetings, KPI review meetings, and pre- and post-maintenance schedule review meetings
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and develop new maintenance tasks to eliminate them in the future
  • Comply with BRC and CFIA requirements related to food safety and address corrective action requests in a timely manner
  • Comply with all applicable provincial and federal labor regulations and adhere to terms and conditions specified in collective bargaining agreements
  • Demonstrate an active commitment to progressive health and safety programs and food safety initiatives
  • Provide temporary backup for Maintenance Manager as needed and perform other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Familiarity with world-class maintenance concepts and best practices
  • Awareness of Six Sigma, RCM, and autonomous maintenance principles
  • College graduate from an electro-mechanical program or licensed tradesperson with related experience
  • Conversant in preventive and predictive maintenance tactics
  • Willingness to work shifts as required
  • Comfortable using a CMMS, preferably SAP-PM
  • Recognized ability to troubleshoot and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of ammonia-based plant refrigeration systems and their operation
  • Able to manage maintenance and maintenance resources effectively through KPIs and benchmarking
  • Proven record of identifying reliability issues and implementing improvement strategies
  • Knowledge and experience with HACCP
  • PEMAC membership or other professional maintenance association with or without MMP designation

Salary

$90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
