We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Technology to join our team at OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of autonomous mobile robotics.
Key Responsibilities- Lead R&D Programs: Develop and execute mobile robot research and development programs, driving innovation and advancing the state-of-the-art in autonomous robotics.
- Manage R&D Teams: Direct the recruitment and management of R&D-focused team members, providing technical supervision and mentorship to ensure the success of our projects.
- Foster Academic Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with academic institutions, facilitating technology transfer, dataset development, and joint publications that advance our research and development efforts.
- Represent OTTO Motors: Ensure that our organization is well-represented as a technology leader in the field of autonomous mobile robotics, through patents, publications, open-source contributions, and public presentations.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Continuously monitor and understand emerging technologies and trends in autonomous robotics, communicating this knowledge to our team and stakeholders.
- Advanced Degree: Hold a graduate degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
- Research Program Management: Proven experience in managing research programs with varying risk levels, TRL levels, timelines, and budgets.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in leading successful and failed research programs, with a strong track record of innovation and results.
- Technical Expertise: Broad familiarity with navigation, planning, perception, mapping, deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative AI, and other relevant topics in autonomous robotics.
- Software Development: Proficient in software development and testing methodologies, with experience in languages such as C++ and Python.
- Robotics Experience: Hands-on experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining software for robots in real-world environments.
- Leadership and Communication: Proven ability to present and represent your work or organization in public, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
