About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Ausenco. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing cost-effective structural engineering solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement structural engineering designs from conceptual to detail design, tender, and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards.
  • Perform analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct site visits and inspect existing structures, evaluating and analyzing them for modifications and additions, and proposing reinforcement solutions.
  • Prepare material take-offs of steel and concrete.
  • Lead projects with minimal supervision, ensuring objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
  • Supervise the work of designers and project team members.
  • Collaborate with drafting staff to produce detailed drawing packages.
  • Liaise with client representatives and general contractors directly.
  • Manage small projects primarily led by structural scope.
  • Maintain and build upon client relationships.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized University (Master's degree considered an asset).
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the Province of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in the design of industrial and/or institutional type buildings.
  • Solid experience in structural design and certification of various building types and heights, including lateral load analysis.
  • Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment.
  • Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards (US and International Codes and Standards an asset).
  • Proficiency in structural engineering design software, including STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, MathCAD, RISA, etc.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, NavisWorks, and Smart Plant (asset).
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a multidisciplinary group.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Site inspection and reporting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products to prepare reports, specifications, presentations, and estimates.
  • Commitment to technical excellence and client service.
