Job Summary:

We are seeking a Personal Support Worker to join our team in the Shelburne area. As a Personal Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing supportive care to residents in a long-term care facility. This is a part-time position, and we are looking for someone who is available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supportive care to residents: Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
  • Assist with medication administration: Assist residents with taking their medications, as directed by the healthcare team.
  • Document resident information: Record resident information, including vital signs, medication administration, and any changes in resident condition.
  • Participate in team meetings: Attend team meetings to discuss resident care and any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures: Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Gentle Persuasion Approaches to Dementia Care (GPA) are assets: We are looking for candidates who have experience working with individuals with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: You will be working with residents, families, and healthcare team members, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team: You will be working in a fast-paced environment, so you must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • First aid and CPR certification: You must have current first aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds: You must be able to lift 25 pounds, as you will be assisting residents with daily living activities.
