Job Summary:

The Dietitian - Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for evaluating a person's nutritional status and developing intervention strategies to adapt nutrition based on individual needs to maintain or restore health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the hospital and Elders' home food services according to the needs.
  • Participate in clinical teaching and share knowledge with other workers.
  • Develop and implement nutrition workshops and activities.
  • Collaborate with the MSSS Network and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Provide nutrition counseling and prevention/promotion programming.
  • Work with Cree culture and language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyupimaatisiiun healing practices and paradigms.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
  • Two years of relevant experience is an asset.
  • Experience with First Nation or with cross-cultural work is an asset.
  • Fluent in English; fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Willing to travel occasionally to other communities.
  • Opportunity to work occasionally outside normal working hours.
