Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Diesel Mechanic to join our team at United Rentals. As a Field Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer-owned equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform safe maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment.

  • Work Order Management: Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to our customers, including upselling and demonstrating a wide array of complex equipment.

  • Travel and Logistics: Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer-owned equipment; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.

  • Equipment Management: Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.

  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.

  • Skills: Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools; knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.

  • Tools and Equipment: Must own tools applicable to position.

  • Customer Service: Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
