About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters, providing support and direction on new business and renewals, including pricing and policy terms. They will also develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, provide market intelligence and strategic insights to underwriting management, and participate in product development initiatives by providing necessary analysis and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of underwriters and provide guidance on new business and renewals
  • Develop and maintain broker relationships through networking and support
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic insights to underwriting management
  • Participate in product development initiatives by providing analysis and reports

We are looking for a candidate with at least 8 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, preferably MGA experience, and at least 3 years of leadership/management experience in underwriting. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and negotiation skills. A Level 1 General Insurance license and professional designation (CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or in progress) are also preferred.

Requirements
  • Eight years of commercial lines underwriting experience
  • At least 3 years of leadership/management experience in underwriting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Level 1 General Insurance license
  • Professional designation (CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or in progress)
