Your Opportunity:

As a Psychiatric Aide with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in delivering quality care to patients with complex moderate to severe brain injuries. This is a physically demanding position that requires you to assist with daily living activities, including toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring, and re-positioning patients. You will also escort patients to and from programs and manage behavioral patients as needed.

Description:

This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team that works together to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will assist nurses with routine care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs. You will also observe and report on patients' mood, health, and well-being, and maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with daily living activities, including toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring, and re-positioning patients
  • Escort patients to and from programs
  • Manage behavioral patients as needed
  • Observe and report on patients' mood, health, and well-being
  • Maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals
Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer
  • Sound observation and communication skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary psychiatric and rehabilitation setting
  • Able to handle the physical demands of the position
