Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs various tests and procedures offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. They possess the technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform all tests in the clinical and environmental laboratories.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory tests with a network of steps and variables according to established protocols.
- Operate instruments that are often computer integrated and networked, using computerized information systems.
- Compare test results to pre-established criteria and make decisions regarding the reportability of results.
- Must be a graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technologist.
- Must be licensed with NSCMLT or eligible.
- Registration with CSMLS is required.
- Ability to work shiftwork, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
