Key Responsibilities:
- Estimation and Tendering: Perform full tender processes from invitation to submission for a 100% self-performance excavating company, ensuring accurate and timely estimations.
- Quantity Take-Offs and Cost Estimations: Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and cost estimations to ensure accurate bid submissions.
- Scope Review and Bid Form Completion: Review scope and complete bid forms with precision and attention to detail.
- Site Visits and Bid Interviews: Conduct site visits and attend bid interviews to gather essential information and build relationships with clients.
- Supplier Communication and Negotiation: Communicate and negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best possible outcomes for the company.
- RFIs and Tender Tracking: Prepare RFIs (Request for Information) with clients and maintain the tender tracker to ensure seamless tracking of submissions.
- Client Communication and Follow-Up: Follow up with clients throughout the bidding process to ensure their needs are met and expectations are managed.
- Production Review and Team Mentoring: Review production with the operations team and mentor and train junior team members to ensure knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Bid Opportunity Presentation: Present bid opportunities to management, highlighting the company's strengths and competitive advantages.
- New Business Development: Proactively seek out fresh avenues for excavation projects, utilizing industry networks, market analysis, and strategic partnerships to bring new clients and business to the company.
Requirements:
- Construction Experience: 3+ years of construction experience, with a focus on excavation and estimating.
- Estimating Experience: 2+ years of experience in excavation-focused estimating, with a strong understanding of tendering processes and bid forms.
- Specialist Excavating Experience: Experience working for a specialist excavating subcontractor is highly preferred.
Company Overview:
Our client is a major construction group with multiple different arms, including Excavating, Demolition, Residential construction, and Civil construction, operating across Canada. The salary for this position will vary depending on the level of experience and the level of seniority that the role is hired at, with a range of $90,000 - $150,000.
