We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Campbell River and Courtenay, BC. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career with us and support numerous business initiatives.

Salary

The estimated salary for this role is between $25.27 and $30.05 per hour.

Job Description

Specimen Collection Process: As a Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for greeting patients, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.

Phlebotomies and Special Test Collections: You will perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, and perform ECG tracings. Additionally, you will perform special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.

Data Entry and Client Relationships: You will maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests. You will also complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results.

Preparation and Transportation: You will prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience: Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related experience such as working as a healthcare professional with previous training or experience in phlebotomy (blood draws), intravenous infusion and/or intravenous therapy.

Skills and Abilities: Empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, problem-solving skills, excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
