Riverside Natural Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Food Safety & QA Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Food Safety and Quality Assurance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful management of our Food Safety and Quality Assurance System.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and enforce food safety and quality assurance programs and policies company-wide, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish annual corporate FSQA program review, update, and continuously develop performance expectations for microbiological performance, pest control, foreign material prevention, regulatory compliance, risk management, and HACCP programs.
- Develop and monitor Riverside FSQA KPIs, ensuring achievement by supporting plant FSQA teams, communicating KPIs and action plans through monthly reports, and participating in internal audits.
- Oversee and facilitate plant preparations for BRC audits, coordinate with plant FSQA teams for Gluten-Free, Organic, and customer audits, and ensure effective implementation and adherence to Recall and Traceability procedures.
- Analyze customer complaints, finished products hold trends, and out-of-spec testing parameters, working with plant FSQA teams to improve Riverside KPIs and share best practices with the Riverside plant network.
- Approve Riverside raw material specifications, coordinate with Supplier Development and R&D to confirm specifications are up-to-date, and periodically review FSQA budget with plant FSQA Manager/Supervisors.
- Lead by example, maintaining a positive and welcoming work atmosphere.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology or related discipline, with 10+ years of comprehensive food safety and quality management experience, including multi-site leadership experience in the food industry.
- Experience in QI-focused environments, with knowledge of BRC standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, quality improvement tools, root cause analysis, statistical programs, food safety training, and internal audit.
- Strong understanding of food regulations for Canada and the U.S., with GFSI, PCQI, HACCP, and internal audit certification, and previous experience leading audits, preferably BRC standard.
- Resourceful and adaptable, with demonstrated management ability, strong multitasking, analytical, and decision-making skills, and the ability to identify root cause and solve problems.
