Job Summary

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a leading defined benefit pension plan dedicated to providing a secure retirement income to over 400,000 members in Ontario's healthcare sector. As a key member of the Plan Operations Division, this role will play a critical part in delivering on HOOPP's pension promise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of a risk and evaluation framework for pension administration activities, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the assessment and mitigation of operational risks, collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify and address potential risks and control gaps.
  • Design, implement, and maintain operational and financial controls, ensuring effective monitoring and reporting of control effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Division to support enterprise risk management and controls processes, maintaining a strong relationship with the Risk Division and providing expertise on Plan Operations risk management and controls.
  • Lead a team of operational risk management and controls experts, providing coaching, development, and direction to ensure the team's success in delivering on key objectives.
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant field, such as business, finance, or risk management.
  • Professional accounting or risk designation (CA, CMA, CGA), preferably a CA designation.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in risk management and/or finance and/or investment industries, with a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of industry best practices for internal controls and operational risk management.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, with the ability to identify, understand, document, and monitor internal controls and critically assess their effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, coach, and influence productive teams.
