As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the actuarial field. Our Ontario Mutual Automobile Plan (OMAP) department is seeking a highly skilled Manager, Actuarial to join our team.

We are committed to delivering high-quality services to our customers and stakeholders. As a Manager, Actuarial, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of actuarial rate indications and statistical models supporting our shared automobile insurance product. This includes communicating proposed changes with business partners, providing input on product and underwriting rules, and keeping updated on changing regulatory and competitive market environments.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule with the flexibility to work remotely as we embrace the modern hybrid work environment. Our office is located in Cambridge, Ontario, off the 401 in a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and develop actuarial analysts, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching
  • Complete rate filings with the regulator, including determination of loss trends, premium trends, on-leveling, loss development factors, and sensitivity testing
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and use analytics software to make predictive models and monitor performance on auto pricing and related KPIs
  • Closely communicate proposed changes to business partners and answer colleague and stakeholder questions to ensure proper understanding
  • Provide input on product, underwriting rules, and growth strategy
  • Keep updated on changing regulatory and competitive market environments

Requirements:

  • A degree in actuarial science, statistics, or another related field
  • FCAS or near-FCAS designation, with experienced ACAS candidates also considered
  • At least 5 years' experience in an actuarial role, including at least 2 years of experience in auto pricing
  • Prior experience completing auto rate filings with FSRA or other provincial regulators
  • Expert proficiency using Excel spreadsheets and working knowledge of business intelligence tools
  • Experienced in various data processing and programming languages, primarily R and including any of SQL, VBA, C-based languages, Python, etc.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, including presenting data to non-technical audiences and presenting proposals and results to executive audiences
