Staff Accountant Job Description

Vecima Networks Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of account balances.
  • Assist with the bank accounts reconciliation.
  • Record the monthly AR Import and AR Payment receipts.
  • Record the monthly Capital lease journal entry.
  • Update the Property Plant and Equipment schedule and record the monthly depreciation.
  • Reconcile and record the monthly prepaids transactions.
  • Record the monthly accrual for the PO and non-PO invoices.
  • Process the monthly amortization files and prepare the monthly JE amortization.
  • Prepare the monthly reconciliation of the deferred revenue, provision for credit loss, URB reconciliation, commission for new customers, installation at discounted selling price, and other month-end and quarter-end reconciliations.
  • Prepare the reconciliation of sales tax and prepare the monthly sales tax remittance.
  • Prepare Operational reports (subscribers reports, buyout calculation, etc.).
  • Participate in the preparation of financial statements, notes to the Financial Statements, variance analysis, and month-end reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation of cash-flow statements, cash analysis, etc.
  • Post journal entries and prepare backup for entries.
  • Provide support to Accounts Receivable and be the back-up for AR full cycle accounting.
  • Assist with ERP software implementation.
  • Assist with other accounting and administrative duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting.
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience.
  • Pursuing or looking to pursue CPA Designation.
  • Experience with accounting software, QuickBooks Online is an asset.
  • An analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and comfortable with learning new software.
  • Proficiency in Excel (very comfortable with pivot table, VLOOKUP's, text, if formulas).
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to establish good relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
