Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary Teacher to join our team at Kitasoo Community School. As a key member of our educational community, you will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Teach a range of subjects in elementary grades, including literacy and numeracy
  • Create a safe and structured learning environment that promotes social-emotional growth
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve academic and personal goals
  • Implement outdoor, place-based lessons that foster a deeper connection with nature
Requirements
  • BC Teacher Certification
  • Teacher training and practicum at the Elementary level
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or practicum reports
  • Bachelor of Education (or higher)
  • Ability to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities
  • Strong classroom management skills and effective communication skills
  • Ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices
  • Interest in outdoor land-based education

  • Competitive salary range $65,692 per annum, based upon education and experience
