Paver Operator Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Paver Operator to join our team at Volker Stevin Contracting. As a Paver Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of asphalt pavers, ensuring high-quality results and meeting project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate asphalt pavers and other heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent accidents.
  • Preheat paving screeds and monitor temperature settings to achieve the desired asphalt consistency.
  • Regulate screed temperature and control the flow of asphalt into the hopper.
  • Align pavers to ensure proper application of asphalt, smoothing it evenly to the desired height, width, and depth.
  • Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of asphalt pavers.
  • Perform other heavy equipment operations and construction-related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience as a Paving Operator.
  • Valid Class 5 Operator's License and a clean Driver Abstract.
  • Knowledge of road construction materials, processes, and industry requirements.
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Willingness to work out of town and in remote locations, as required.
  • Willingness to work overtime, as required.
