The Calgary Airport Authority is seeking an experienced Airport Planning Lead to drive the development of strategic airport planning initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport.

About the Role:

  • This senior leadership position will lead the formulation and implementation of broad-based and holistic airport planning initiatives, aligning with The Airport Authority's legislated mandate, strategic plan, and corporate objectives.
  • You will oversee the activities of Airport Planning, providing day-to-day leadership, direction, coordination, and guidance to departmental staff.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Developing and owning the Airport Master Plans for both Calgary International and Springbank Airports in collaboration with other business units and in alignment with the Corporate Strategy.
  • Creating long-term Air Traffic Movement Forecasts (passengers, aircraft movements, air cargo) in collaboration with other business units, including Capacity Planning Team and Air Service Development.
  • Developing and owning short, medium, and long-term Airside/Airfield planning initiatives, focusing on improvements related to overall Airfield System efficiency, in collaboration with Airside Operations and the Capacity Planning Team.
  • Driving simulation and modelling initiatives related to Airfield and Terminal sub-systems in conjunction with Airside, Terminal Operations, and Capacity Management Teams.
  • Collaborating with Land Development, Commercial, and Retail Development teams to ensure planning initiatives are harmonized and integrated with the Airport's Non-Aeronautical revenue programs.
  • Influencing technological advancements related to overall airport system performance and optimization in collaboration with IT and Corporate/Airport Technologies teams.

You Will Be Expected To Have:

  • A University Degree in Airport Planning, Urban or Regional Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Professional Designation related to the field, such as RPP/MRAIC/P.LI.
  • 10-15 years of experience as a Professional Planner, preferably in an international or commercial airport environment or in the consulting field.
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience, overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
