This position is reporting to the Director, Western Operations. The successful candidate will be located at a Federal Government client site and will be responsible for providing daily construction, administrative, and technical management of renewable construction projects delivering energy savings for public, institutional, government, and commercial customers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Senior Project Manager in managing vendors and subcontractors to ensure quality control, project delivery is on time and on budget, and customer expectations are met.
  2. Coordinate tender document preparation and approvals.
  3. Review solicited subcontractor and vendor bids to determine scope, schedule, and timely delivery for all project-related materials, equipment, and construction services.
  4. Plan, coordinate, and manage specific aspects of on-site project construction activities from implementation to commercial operation, commissioning, and acceptance.
  5. Create and review Requests For Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and Contemplated Change Notices (CCNs).
  6. Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the contract documents, approved design, manuals, procedures, and engineering practices.
  7. Support maintaining and updating project schedules to reflect current information, monitor critical path activities, and track outstanding items.
  8. Develop and create contingency plans to safeguard the execution of the project within the project schedule.
  9. Provide timely updates of risks and issues to the Senior Project Manager and Design/Engineering teams.
  10. Develop and maintain project cost/change controls, and project budget and accounting records for invoicing and reconciliation.
  11. Assist in managing and reviewing the progress of subcontractors' construction schedules and invoices.
  12. Report the onsite project status to business and project stakeholders to create accurate forecasts and schedules.
  13. Attend and lead on-site construction, subcontractor, and site safety meetings as required.
  14. Develop site-specific safety plans and emergency response plans.
  15. Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
  16. Foster positive and effective business relationships at all levels and project phases.

Qualifications:

  1. 2-3 years heavy commercial/industrial power, electrical, mechanical, or engineering construction management experience focusing on complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls, and automation, and energy services.
  2. Must have current First Aid certification prior to starting on site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Completion or progress toward engineering, technical, or industry-related education.
  2. Proficient with MS Office Suite of Tools, including MS Word, Excel, and Project.
  3. Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication, and presentation skills.
  4. Familiar with National Master Specification tender documents.
  5. Familiar with Alberta COR, ISO 45001, or other safety standards.
  6. Proven experience with Alberta safety standards, additional safety certifications, and courses through Alberta Construction Safety Association or another accredited provider.
  7. Leadership through Safety Excellence (LSE) through Alberta Construction Safety Association.
  8. Proven understanding of project management standards, principles, and methodologies.
  9. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.
  10. Experience with project risk assessment/management.
  11. Conceptual planning.
  12. Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  13. Leadership ability.
  14. Multi-tasking ability.
  15. Required to obtain Federal Reliability Status security clearance as a condition of employment.
  16. Must have a valid class 5 Alberta drivers' license, in good standing.
